Life Journey
Irrfan Khan was born on January 7, 1966 in Rajasthan, India in a Muslim Pashtun family. His mother's name is Saeeda Begum Khan and his father's name is Yaseen Ali Khan and they ran a tyre business. At young age, he was good in cricket and was also selected in under-23 year category but unfortunately he didn't turn up for the tournament owing to lack of funds.
Then after he showed interest in acting under the impact of this maternal uncle who was a theater artist in Jodhpur. After completing MA in Jaipur he went to Delhi and joined National School of Drama(NSD). In his early days, he worked as an air conditioner repairman. In 1988, he was offered a minor role in Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay!, but unfortunately his scene was removed in the final cut. Besides, he played many roles in Television series.
After many television series and unsuccessful movies, Irrfan Khan was casted for a lead role in The Warrior by London based director. When The warrior opened at international film festival this movie became famous. Then he played many roles in Bollywood cinema as well as Hollywood.
He married Sutapa Sikdar(Hindu Brahmin) in 1995. The couple has 2 sons. His wife is also an Indian film producer, dialogue, and screenplay writer.
In 2018, Irrfan Khan diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor - a rare form of cancer that can target various parts of the body. The same year Irrfan khan traveled to London for the treatment of this disease. On April 18,2020, Irrfan khan was moved to Kokila ben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai for treatment of colon infection. After four days of his mother's death on April 29, 2020, Irrfan Khan passed away at the age of 53.
